The History of the Studio
Count 3 buildings in from the right...you're looking at Prout Portrait Studio at what I'm guessing is probably sometime in the era of 1910/1920. Not much looks the same now, with the exception of the decorative cornice at the top of the building. Over the years, unfortunately the brick had deteriorated and siding was applied, the door was moved from the center and the awning has long since been removed. But hey... for a building that has stood for over 100 years that's not bad! As far as my knowledge goes, it was built in the late 1890's and has hosted such businesses as the K-Ole Shop and Dana Carpet before it became Prout Portrait Studio in 2010. (If anyone has any other knowledge about my space I'd LOVE to hear about it! The history is so interesting to me!)
There have been extensive interior changes! The addition of walls, a bathroom remodel, and a total head to toe renovation has turned the studio into my little home away from home! Keeping true to my vintage style, the studio is decorated in antique and re-purposed items from the snack bar to the dressing room! I really love it there, and often find myself sitting near my windows after a session wondering just how this is real life!
All the renovations have really been a labor or love, coming together piece by piece over the years. The exterior remodel comes hopefully yet this year! I can't wait!
